    GO BUFFS!

Looks like this will be a tough season for the Buffs. 4-8 last year. Ugh. Dorrell never did anything for me and still doesn't (8-10). Yuk.

In 2021, CU had an offense that was among the worst in the country and a defense that was OK.

From that offense, the Buffs lost their most explosive playmaker (receiver Brenden Rice) and top running back (Jarek Broussard) to the transfer portal. Rice now plays at Southern California and Broussard at Michigan State. Another starting receiver, Dimitri Stanley, left CU for Iowa State.

The defense was decent at times, but inconsistent, ultimately finishing seventh in the Pac-12 in points allowed (26.7 per game). The Buffs lost six of their best defenders, including three – linebackers Nate Landman and Carson Wells and defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson – to graduation. Three starters in the secondary – cornerbacks Mekhi Blackmon (USC) and Christian Gonzalez (Oregon) and safety Mark Perry (TCU) – all transferred.

CU didn’t fill the holes with proven veterans from the transfer portal. Instead, the Buffs are relying on young players to step up, while counting on a handful of transfer additions to succeed in bigger roles than they had at their previous schools.

The outside perception of the Colorado football program is that the Buffaloes are in for another rough season.

Talk about deserting a sinking ship. Ouch!

I sometimes wonder if moving to the Pac12 was the right decision. I still miss that post-Thanksgiving game with the Huskers every year. Oh well...

I suppose Utah is a decent rivalry game, but I really, really, REALLY .miss playing Nebraska on Thanksgiving Fridays.

Funny how 10 years after both teams ditch the Big XII, they schedule a non-conference home-and-home - and those two games both become legitimate classics - both Colorado wins. The OT win in Boulder in 2019 may have been the best game I've ever seen played at Folsom Field - seriously.

I know that ESPN sucks, but they've sunk to a new low. They're televising this game using a single camera that appears to placed in the upper stands at around the 50 yard line, and all they can do is zoom in and out. You can barely make out the ball. This is beyond pathetic.

Note: 10 minutes into the first quarter, they announce they're only using one camera due to lightning issues.

Buffs are not a good football team in any facet of the game.

Worst three plays I've ever seen to start a game: Buffs QB sacked, fumbles the next snap, and the Falcons, on the first play, run it right up the middle thirty yards for a TD. The entire coaching staff of CU should be fired.

So, CU’s guy gets thrown out on targeting. The fumble on the goal line seemed like exactly the same play to me, except Fontenot got hit in the back of the head, so it was more dangerous. And they didn’t even seem to consider it.

Yep. They didn't even discuss it. It was blatant.

Buffs got their asses kicked in their (what was supposed to be) two cream-puff games. I can't see them winning a single game this season.

I feel like the play where Shrout slid too early on an easy 4th down conversion kind of sums things up. I don’t remember ever seeing that before—just inexplicable stupidity.

And the playcalling is just terrible.

Yes. They were gashing them in the run in base offense, doing nothing in heavy sets, so all of the sudden they decide to run heavy on key plays.

When I was a student at CU, the team was regularly featured in the Bottom 10 -- a national column where a sportswriter mocked the worst teams in the nation. This current group might be even worse. No speed, no skill, no strength and no pride. But then again, it's what the administration and a large slice of the faculty want, so there's that.

And worse, I don't think there's another Bill McCartney out there to ride in and turn it all around.

                                Poor Buffs. So sad.

They're getting pounded. 21 zip in the 2nd.

I’m not sure that CU is going to have a chance to win a game this year.

I was thinking what they really need is a guy like Sunny Lubbick. When McCartney came in CU was able to compete nationwide. Now they need a guy who can figure out how to overachieve with a really solid program despite disadvantages.

Pathetic. Every time they put the camera on Karl Dorrell he looks like a guy who's missed his bus. Clueless.

                                        AZ State fires Herm Edwards.

Hopefully, CU Buffs draw some inspiration from this.

Karl tries his third QB, freshman son of Josh, Owen McCown. McCown looks good, especially for getting thrown into his first game. Has a live arm. Not good enough to beat the Bruins. 45-17. Youch!

Karl played a lot of freshmen today? Maybe upper classmen not giving the effort? Bad attitudes? ??? Or maybe he's saving them for games where he thinks the Buffs have a chance? I don't see anybody left on the schedule to give him that hope.

Buffs still alive at the half, down by 13. I don't know if they have the talent level to hang in there, but maybe they can get some luck? Go Buffs!

Buffs take another whoopin'. Karl throwing it all on the table with the freshman class. That strategy sacrifices this season in hopes for next year? He probably won't be here to watch it.
