  • The price for Russ starts at 250 for 5

And he wants every penny guaranteed. Watsons deal clearly having an impact here.

That's probably the starting point....especially as this goes on longer. Just wait until Lamar signs...that price is going up.

Mahomes is going to be the biggest bargain professional sports by 2023.

Report: Russell Wilson Wants 5-Year, $250 Million Deal from Broncos - Sports Illustrated Mile High Huddle: Denver Broncos News, Analysis and More

Assuming he does not demand a revised deal. You're saying Wilson won't be a fit for Hackett's offense. So you're not expecting him to play great football. Mahomes, playing at MVP level, will see a divison rival making 5 years, $250M guaranteed while not playing great, but he and his agent will do nothing and just pretend his contract is fine? We'll see about that. Maybe Mahomes wants to be team friendly, but I don't think that means becoming the biggest bargain in professional sports.

First....yes, I don't expect Russ to light the world on fire in year one fo this offense. A whole lot of newness for all parties, I think your line isn't all that good, etc..so I do think there will a bit of friction if Russ numbers don't reflect those of an elite QB. It's not good timing for this to be on the table.

Second. Mahomes and his agent understood when they signed a 10 year deal, it would obsolete quickly. It's designed so that of course it could be revisited and an extension etc could be signed whenever, that could bring Mahomes money up at a given time. The interesting thing about the contract structure is while it isn't a "fully" guaranteed deal, as time passes, future money becomes guaranteed. From the day he signed it, to it's conclusion, up to 477 millin of the 500 million can become guaranteed.

When he signed the deal, is 2020, 2021, and 2022 salaries all became guaranteed. And as each year league comes, the salaries and bonues 2 years into the future become guarnanteed..sow when Mahomes was still on the roster to begin leauge year 2021, all his 2023 money became guaranteed. It keeps doign that going forward. So, there is some incentive for Mahomes stay the course...but of course with Watson signing his fully guaranteed 5 year deal, at some point Mahomes and agent could easily demand and get an extension that 100% guarantees Mahomes. As of now, Mahomes per year average is still I think top 2 or 3 if not no.1. I don't think he's in a rush to do anything with his contract at present. When he signed it, he did alude to the idea he doesn't much care for contract negotiations and liked that the deal he signed was in part with the idea he'd be good to go for a LONG time on this deal. Things can always change...but for now it's growing into a better and better deal all the time, and he's happy with it.

Mahomes will want a new contract soon. A record breaking one much higher than Watson Lamar Wilson etc.

Walton can afford to pay every player on the broncos 50M a year with blinking an eye. “Bowlen is broke” is past worries.

        200M roster bonus.

With Walton, cash reserve will not ever be an issue.

I do not understand how the ownership bidding process works? It has been reported that they are now in the second round of the process. Does that mean all groups saw each other’s first bids and now submitting a second bid to try and outbid the others? Or, are they just narrowed down to three groups and trying to decide which one will be the best for the NFL?

Pretty sure they’ve narrowed down groups. Financial avenues I’m assuming are now being probed in how the money moves for the groups.

If he wanted to renegotiate why didn't he just sign a 4 or 5 year extention? He seems to be in the same mind set as Brady. He wants to win championships and he knows the best way to do that is don't cripple the franchise with sucking up all of their cap space.

I read where they're forcasting him to be the first billionaire player. He's got a ton of endorsements that he's making millions on, he has numerous business ventures like owning a percentage of the Royals and the KC MLS team, among others. I don't think money is going to be an issue.

I get that it’s fun to be a homer and assume the most favorable outcome for the team in any situation, but it’s delusional to think Mahomes won’t be setting the market again in the next few years.

No doubt Mahomes is good. But I'd wait and see how he performs without the cheetah before automatically making him the highest paid QB every year.

Nothing delusional about it. That's just wishful thinking of your part.

Once again, he signed a ten year contract for a reason. Yeah they may make some adjustments, but not at the expense of crippling the team.

                      He wants championships.

Yeah, we'll wait and see. I'm realistic, they completely rebuilt their WR corps and I'm sure it's going to take a while to get on the same page. But they have upgraded the position, Juju and MVS are clear upgrades over Pringle and Robinson. Moore had the 2nd lowest drop rate of the WRs in the draft, and is being talked about like he'll be the steal of the draft.

You guys seem to think that Hill is the only reason Mahomes is great. I think you're going to be greatly disappointed. JMO.

It’s wishful thinking. It’s very possible that the WR corps will be better as a whole. They won’t have anyone as good as Hill, but they’re better everywhere else, along with a few high-upside players like Ross. Plenty of people are predicting big things for Smith-Schuster in this offense. Hardman was under-utilized while sharing the field with Hill. I could see him breaking out, especially in a contract year. People dismiss MVS, but he was the number 2 in a very good offense. He’s still a young and ascending player. And Moore has a lot of potential. There may not be a legit 1 there, but possibly a bunch of legit 2s. A number 1 isn’t necessary when you have a TE who puts up the stats of a number 1 wideout.

Teams had plenty of success at times last year taking away the deep stuff to Hill with the 2 high shell. That won’t fly anymore. They’re going to spread it around and be much less predictable. Which should open up the deep stuff again, and they still have plenty of speed to take advantage.

Well said. I agree that top to bottom the WR corps is a fair amount deeper this year. Losing Hill hurts, no doubt about it. But they still have the best HC/QB combo in the league and I have all the confidence that Reid will be doing what he does, designing plays that utilizes his players strengths.

That said, this could be a year where they take a step back. Lots of new young players and a historically brutal season, especially the first half. But Veach has been killing it in the draft the last couple of years, so that bodes very well for the future. Let rhe rest of the division mortgage their future by trading away draft picks and signing high dollar FAs.

Watch that be the going rate for the Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz’s of the world in just a couple years. The Browns effed it up for everyone with that DeShaun contract. 🤦‍♂️

Rams are proof you can hand out MANY massive contracts and win SBs.

Donald becomes highest paid non QB. Add in a slew of high priced contracts.

no excuses about cap bullshit when Rams literally throwing money everywhere.
